Monitoring of fish stocks in the river Bresle

Monitoring of fish stocks in the river Bresle

On the Bresle, in addition to the surveys carried out at the trapping stations, various fish population monitoring programmes are conducted throughout the river system. The data from these various monitoring programmes are available in the annual report.

IAA eel stock

The IAA surveys are carried out in September–October, in partnership with Seinormigr, using the method developed by Lafaille et al., 2005. The 15 stations spread along the entire length of the river provide a representative picture of eel densities in the Bresle.

Eels and salmon

Survey fishing targeting salmon and eels has been carried out in September–October since 2016. This is preceded by a pilot survey, in accordance with the protocol adapted to the target species, and is intended to assess the effectiveness of the pilot surveys in relation to the densities observed at the site.
