The ORE DiaPFC continually collects scales, otoliths and a variety of biological tissues.

These samples become part of the Biological Resource Centre’s Collection of Ichthyological Samples (CRB COLISA).

The collection’s value lies in the nature of its samples and its size (more than 400,000 samples), geographic coverage (all of France) and historical scope (since the 1970s).

Colisa and the ORE DiaPFC share the mission of ensuring the preservation of this heritage, raising awareness of its richness and facilitating access for researchers.

The biological and environmental information in the collection can be used for retrospective spatio-temporal analyses.

Scales and otoliths, as hard structures, are biological records of a fish's life history (age, growth, reproduction, habitat, etc.). The biological tissues are used mainly for genetic analysis. Recent techniques for analysing these samples (microchemistry, genetics) are opening new perspectives in ecology.

In parallel, Colisa manages and makes available to researchers the national collection of scales from salmonid capture reports (both recreational and commercial fishing).

This collection, begun in 1984, covers all waterways in France.

The Colisa online catalogue (https://colisa.fr/) lists the hard-tissue samples in Colisa and provides access to a summary of the samples in it.

The website also provides a request form for samples or expert analysis.
