Scales, otoliths, and various biological tissues are continuously collected at the ORE DiaPFC.

These samples feed into the Biological Resource Center : CRB COLISA : COLlection of Ichtyological SAmples (Collection of Ichthyological Samples)

The value of this collection lies in the nature of the samples, its size (over 400,000 samples), its geographic coverage (covering the entire national territory), and its historical scope (since the 1970s).

Colisa and the DiaPFC ORE share the mission of ensuring the preservation of this heritage, raising awareness of its richness, and facilitating access for scientists.

The biological and environmental information contained in this collection allows for retrospective spatio-temporal analyses.

Scales and otoliths, as hard structures, are biological recorders of the fish's life history (age, growth, reproduction, habitat, etc.). Biological tissues are primarily used for genetic analysis. Recent techniques for analyzing these samples (microchemistry, genetics) are opening new perspectives in ecology.

In parallel, Colisa manages and makes available to scientists the national collection of scales from salmonid catch reports (both recreational and commercial fishing).

This collection, begun in 1984, covers all waterways in France.

The Colisa online catalog : https://colisa.fr/ lists the various hard tissue samples in the collection and provides access to a summary of the samples available in Colisa.

A request form for samples or expert analysis is also available.
