Monitoring fish stocks in Bresle River

Monitoring fish stocks in Bresle River

In the Bresle River, along with the trapping at the monitoring stations, a variety of programmes to monitor fish population are conducted. The data from these monitoring programmes are available in the annual report.

Tacon

"Salmon" abundance indices (IA SAT)

These indices (number of juveniles captured per 5 minutes of fishing) (Prévost et al., 1993), compiled by SEINORMIGR, are usually recorded in late September at nine stations distributed along the main course of the Bresle River.

Truite juvénile

Trout abundance indices (IAT VIGITRUITE®)

These indices are usually recorded in late September using the "Vigitruite®" method (Roussel, 2004). The sampling points are distributed along the entire Bresle River.

Eel stock indices (IAA)

These indices are usually recorded from September–October, in partnership with SEINORMIGR using the method developed by Lafaille et al., (2005). The 15 stations located along the entire Bresle River provide a representation of eel density in it.

Pêche toutes espèces

Eels and salmon

Survey fishing of eels and salmon has been conducted in September–October since 2016. It is preceded by a pilot survey, in accordance with the method adapted to these species, and assesses the effectiveness of the pilot survey based on the densities observed at the site.
