Bresle River

The Bresle River is a coastal river in Normandy, that originates in the Seine-Maritime department and flows into the English Channel at the town of Le Tréport.

la Bresle

The main course of the Bresle River is 72 km long and drains a catchment area of approximately 748 km². When groundwater levels are low, the river originates in the commune of Criquiers (76), but when they are high it can originate 1 100 m upstream in the Oise department, in the town og Blargies.

The water flow  of the Bresle River is strongly influenced by the chalk aquifer, which acts as one of its drains. Through its regulating role, the aquifer promotes a regular flow with sustained low water levels and mild floods.
