IAA Eel Abundance indicator

IAA Eel Abundance indicator

Targeted eel surveys (IAA) are generally carried out in late September. Eight sampling points, each around 30 metres long, located along the main course of the River Oir between the downstream section of the Moulin de Cerisel and the areas near the source, are sampled over several successive passes.

All eels caught are measured (Lf to the nearest mm), weighed (Pds to the nearest 0.1 g), sexed where possible (size-sex relationship) and individually tagged with a PIT tag. The presence of tags is noted.
